Mosquito for iphone and apple watch · last updated september 15, 2026

The short version: nothing leaves your phone.

Mosquito has no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of any kind. Everything below explains exactly what that means.

what we collect

Nothing. We — the people who made this app — never receive any of your data. There is no server for it to go to. We don't know how many people use the app, what they write, or whether they use it at all.

what the app stores, and where

The notes you write, the moments you record, and any spoken memos are stored locally in the app's own data folder on your iphone. None of it is sent anywhere by us.

If you use mosquito on apple watch, your watch sends the moments you record there to your paired iphone, using apple's on-device connectivity between your own two devices. That data never travels further than your own iphone.

Spoken notes are transcribed on your device using apple's on-device speech recognition. If your device can't do that on-device, the audio is kept and no transcript is made — the audio is never uploaded anywhere to be transcribed.

backups

If you back up your iphone to icloud or a computer, your mosquito notebook is included in that backup like any other app's data, the same way your photos or messages are. That backup is managed entirely by your device's own backup settings, not by us.

third parties

There are none. No analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising network, no third-party libraries that phone home. The only "third party" involved at all is apple, for on-device speech recognition and for icloud/device backups you control yourself.

deleting your data

Settings → reset all data erases your notebook on that device and tells your paired watch to do the same the next time it connects. Deleting the app deletes its data with it, subject to your device's own backup settings.

children

Mosquito isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — it doesn't collect information at all.

changes to this policy

If this ever changes — for instance, if we add an optional feature that does leave the device — we'll update this page and the in-app privacy screen before that feature ships, not after.
